What it is
The Fregehaus should be and remain as we have come to know it. Carefully we have rebuilt. Missing doors were replaced from old stock, door handles were bought at the flea market, the historic panelling in the salon was cleaned until it was recognizable again, new stucco was added, wooden floorboards were laid, an elevator was installed and found objects, such as the brick-filled concrete ceiling from GDR days, were incorporated into the overall concept.
The furnishings were chosen with respect for what was found. The old is naturally found next to the new. There is no spa, no minibar, no fitness room. But the floorboards creak, the doors squeak and there are real keys.
We also go to the market for you, offer water and wine in the Blue Salon on the first floor, have organized a cooperation with Fitness First, Leipzig's leading sports studio, make contacts and give tips on where Leipzig is most beautiful — from our perspective.

The building
The Fregehaus is one of the oldest and most beautiful buildings in downtown Leipzig. One of the city's most famous architects, Gregor Fuchs, gave the 4-wing Renaissance building for the merchant Gottfried Otto its baroque form around 1706. The entrance hall with its vault and some columns, which were built into the rooms of the front building, still remind of the Renaissance.
The eponym of the house, Christian Gottlob Frege, bought the house around 1780 in order to establish his trading and banking house here, which existed well into the 20th century.
Among the well-known personalities who came and went in the house of Frege were J. W. von Goethe, Freiherr vom Stein, Hardenberg and representatives of the great German princely houses.
